Peanut butter filling:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 eggs
3/4 cup Hershey's cocoas
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup Hershey's milk chocolate chips
2 packages (3 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Reese's peanut butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Peanut butter filling: In a small mixing bowl, beat all ingredients until smooth and creamy Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 pan. Prepare peanut butter filling. Place butter in large microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2 minutes or until melted. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well with spoon after each addition. Add cocoa; beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat well. Stir in chocolate chips. Remove 1 cup batter. Pour remaining batter into prepared pan. Spread peanut butter filling over top. Drop reserved chocolate batter by teaspoonfuls over filling. Using knife, gently swirl through top layers for marbled effect. Bake 35-40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars. About 36 brownies.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will have a big impact on the final product. Use good-quality peanut butter, chocolate, and flour.
  • Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies at the right temperature: The brownies should be baked at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If the oven is too hot, the brownies will cook too quickly and the outside will be overcooked while the inside is still raw. If the oven is too cool, the brownies will not cook properly and will be gooey in the center.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting: This will help to prevent them from falling apart.
