I got this outstanding recipe from the custodian at our church, who fixes these moist, fruity muffins and shares them with friends. He gave me one to try a couple years ago, and I was hooked. The tasty combination of pears and spices is irresistible. -Linda Jachimstal, Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Tips:

  • Muffin Tins: Use a standard 12-cup muffin tin for this recipe. If you don't have a muffin tin, you can also use a 9x13 inch baking pan. Just be sure to adjust the baking time accordingly.
  • Fresh Pears: For the best flavor, use fresh, ripe pears. Bosc or Bartlett pears work well in this recipe.
  • Chopping the Pears: To chop the pears, simply remove the core and cut them into small pieces. You can also use a food processor to chop the pears, if you prefer.
  • Measuring the Flour: Be sure to measure the flour correctly. The best way to do this is to use a kitchen scale. If you don't have a kitchen scale, you can use a measuring cup, but be sure to fluff the flour before measuring it.
  • Mixing the Batter: It's important to mix the batter just until it is combined. Overmixing will result in tough muffins.
  • Filling the Muffin Cups: Fill the muffin cups about 2/3 full. If you fill them too full, the muffins will overflow in the oven.
  • Baking the Muffins: Bake the muffins at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  • Cooling the Muffins: Allow the muffins to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Conclusion:

These pear muffins are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They're perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. The muffins are also a great way to use up leftover pears. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a batch of these delicious muffins that the whole family will enjoy.
