PEAR BREAD

Pear Bread image

As Bosc pears ripen the texture is as soft as a ripe banana, so I got the idea of making my banana bread recipe with chunks of pear. I added a bit of homemade granola, instead of the toasted coconut I usually put in the banana bread. It is essentially the same recipe, but the result is completely and wonderfully different, with a sweet spice flavor. Note: The trick to this recipe is using the pears when they are very ripe. This means they are at their sweetest and will breakdown when baking.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe pears: Using ripe pears will give your bread a sweeter, more flavorful taste. Look for pears that are slightly soft to the touch and have a fragrant smell.
  • Peel and core the pears: Before adding the pears to your bread batter, you need to peel and core them. This will remove the skin and the tough core from the pears, leaving you with just the sweet, tender flesh.
  • Grate the pears: The easiest way to incorporate pears into your bread batter is to grate them. This will create small pieces of pear that will distribute evenly throughout the bread.
  • Use a combination of spices: To enhance the flavor of your pear bread, consider using a combination of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. These spices will complement the sweetness of the pears and add a warm, inviting aroma to your bread.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense bread. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can also cause the pears to break down and lose their shape.
  • Bake the bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This is the best way to ensure that your bread is cooked through. If the toothpick comes out with wet batter attached, the bread needs to bake for longer.

Conclusion:

Pear bread is a delicious and versatile treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste preferences. With its sweet, moist texture and the delicate flavor of pears, this bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a new and exciting bread recipe, give pear bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
