Number Of Ingredients 8

2 can(s) 28 oz each baked beans
2/3 c sweet bbq sauce or ketchup...i really diana bbq sauce
1 Tbsp dijon mustard
1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce
1 dash(es) ground cumin i tend to add a little more...1/4 tsp) but if you don' like cumin add chili powder
1 dash(es) black pepper
1 c thinly sliced onion
3 or 4 slices bacon

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350. Spoon beans into a 9x13 dish. Stir in bbq sauce, mustard, hot pepper sauce, cumin and pepper Scatter onion slices on top of beans and arrange bacon slices on top of onions. Bake until bubbly and the onion and bacon are cooked approx 55 mins to an hour..

Tips:

  • Soak the beans overnight: This helps to soften the beans and reduce the cooking time.
  • Use a variety of beans: This gives the dish a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Add some sweetness: Brown sugar, molasses, or maple syrup are all good options.
  • Add some smokiness: Smoked paprika, bacon, or ham hocks are all good ways to add a smoky flavor.
  • Don't overcook the beans: They should be tender but still hold their shape.
  • Serve the beans warm: They can be served as a side dish or main course.

Conclusion:

Baked beans are a classic comfort food that is perfect for any potluck or gathering. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a little planning and preparation, you can make a pot of baked beans that will be the hit of the party.
