1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
1 2/3 cups canned crushed tomatoes in puree (from one 28-ounce can)
2 8-ounce bottles clam juice

Tips:

  • Choose Fresh Seafood: Use the freshest seafood available for the best flavor and texture. Look for seafood that is firm and has a briny smell.
  • Sauté the Seafood: Before adding the seafood to the stew, sauté it briefly in a pan with some olive oil. This will help to sear the seafood and give it a nice golden brown color.
  • Use a Variety of Seafood: For a more flavorful stew, use a variety of seafood, such as shrimp, clams, lobster and cod. You can also use a combination of cooked and raw seafood.
  • Make a Flavorful Broth: The broth is the base of the stew, so it's important to make it flavorful. Use a combination of seafood stock, white wine, and tomatoes.
  • Add Vegetables: Vegetables add flavor, texture, and color to the stew. Use a variety of vegetables, such as onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes.
  • Season to Taste: Season the stew to taste with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice for a bit of brightness.

Cioppino is a delicious and flavorful seafood stew that is perfect for a special occasion or a casual weeknight meal. With its combination of fresh seafood, flavorful broth, and tender vegetables, cioppino is a surefire hit.
