JAMBALAYA WITH SAUSAGE (RICE COOKER RECIPE)
Rice Cooker version of Jambalaya was adapted from a recipe from The 100 Greatest Dishes of Louisiana Cookery. I made quite a number of changes from the original recipe according to my family's tastes, ingredient availability and cooking method in order to cook it in a rice cooker.

Steps:
- put everything in rice cooker; mix well and cook. For a 22 cup rice cooker, multiply ingredients by four.
Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh vegetables, flavorful sausage, and tender chicken will make a big difference in the taste of your jambalaya.
- Don't overcrowd the rice cooker: If you add too much food to the rice cooker, it will not cook evenly. Follow the recipe's instructions for the correct amount of ingredients.
- Use a good quality rice: A long-grain rice, such as basmati or jasmine, will cook up fluffy and separate, while a short-grain rice, such as arborio or sushi rice, will be more creamy and sticky.
- Sauté the vegetables and meat before adding them to the rice cooker: This will help to develop their flavor and prevent them from becoming mushy.
- Use a flavorful broth: A good quality chicken or vegetable broth will add depth of flavor to your jambalaya.
- Season the jambalaya well: Creole seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper are essential spices for jambalaya. Adjust the seasonings to your taste.
- Let the jambalaya rest before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and the rice to absorb the liquid.
Conclusion:
Jambalaya is a delicious and versatile dish that can be easily made in a rice cooker. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a satisfying and flavorful meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dinner idea, give jambalaya a try. You won't be disappointed!
