CROCK POT SWEET POTATO APPLE PORK ROAST

Crock Pot Sweet Potato Apple Pork Roast image

This is an old recipe that I got from my mother, she never made it when I was younger because she doesn't like sweet potatoes. I have made this recipe now quite a few times and it always turns out moist and delicious. The mustard is optional, and I leave that out as my family doesn't like mustard, although I think it still tastes good with it. The sauce at the end is also optional, I have eaten it before without the sauce and it is still wonderful. The sauce adds a little extra touch though, but use it sparingly, or it will really overpower the great taste of the pork.

This flavorful recipe combines tender pork loin roast, sweet apples, and hearty sweet potatoes for a satisfying one-pan meal. Here are some tips to ensure a successful dish:

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Pork Roast: Select a pork loin roast that is evenly thick throughout for even cooking. Look for a roast that is about 3-4 pounds.
  • Use a Variety of Apples: Different apples offer unique flavors and textures to the dish. Try using a combination of sweet and tart varieties, such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Pink Lady.
  • Enhance Flavor with Seasonings: Rub the pork roast with a flavorful blend of seasonings, including garlic powder, paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. This will create a delicious crust during roasting.
  • Roast at the Right Temperature: Cook the pork roast at 375°F (190°C) for about 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). This will ensure that the pork is cooked thoroughly while remaining tender and juicy.
  • Don't Crowd the Pan: Make sure there is enough space between the pork roast and the vegetables so that everything can cook evenly. If the pan is too crowded, the vegetables may not roast properly.
  • Toss the Vegetables Occasionally: During roasting, give the vegetables a gentle toss to ensure even cooking and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Glaze the Roast: To add a glossy and flavorful glaze to the pork, baste it with the pan juices during the last 15 minutes of roasting.
  • Let the Roast Rest: Before carving, let the pork roast rest for 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful roast.

Conclusion:

This recipe for Roast Pork with Apples and Sweet Potatoes offers a delightful combination of flavors and textures. By following these tips, you can create a succulent pork roast that is perfectly complemented by the sweet and savory apples and tender sweet potatoes. Serve this dish with a side of your favorite roasted vegetables or a refreshing salad for a complete and satisfying meal that will impress your family and friends.
