PEPPER STRIP STEAK

Pepper Strip Steak image

This recipe uses simple/inexpensive ingredients that you are sure to have around the house. I grew up eating this and consider it true comfort food! I found the recipe in an old cookbook of my mothers called "Second Helping, Please", though I've adapted it slightly to suit my preferences. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do and don't let the ketchup scare you!!! This is really quite tasty.

Tips:

  • Use round steak that is at least 1 inch thick. This will help it stay juicy during cooking.
  • Tenderize the steak before cooking. This can be done by pounding it with a meat mallet or marinating it in a mixture of oil, vinegar, and spices.
  • Cook the steak over medium heat. This will help it cook evenly without burning.
  • Do not overcook the steak. Overcooked steak will be tough and chewy.
