The meat is so tender and moist and the gravy is so flavorful. Instead of baking it in the oven, I use my pressure cooker. This is wonderful with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: Round steak is a tough cut of meat, so it's important to cook it slowly in a moist environment. This will help to tenderize the meat and make it more flavorful.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: Marinating the round steak before cooking will help to add flavor and moisture. You can use a variety of marinades, but a simple one made with olive oil, garlic, and herbs is a good option.
  • Cook the meat slowly: Round steak should be cooked slowly over low heat. This will help to tenderize the meat and prevent it from becoming tough. You can cook the meat in a Dutch oven, a slow cooker, or even in the oven.
  • Add vegetables: Vegetables add flavor, color, and nutrients to the dish. You can add any vegetables you like, but onions, carrots, and celery are a classic combination.
  • Make a rich gravy: The gravy is what really makes this dish special. Be sure to use a good quality gravy mix or make your own gravy from scratch.

Conclusion:

Round steak in rich gravy is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. By following these tips, you can make sure that your round steak is tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
