This beans are seasoned with some of my favorite herbs. I've found that basil, oregano and parsley are great flavor accents for canned, frozen or fresh beans. I've taken this delicious side along to last-minute potlucks as well.-Heidi Wilcox, Lapeer, Michigan

Tips:
- Choose fresh, tender green beans: Look for beans that are bright green in color and snap easily when you bend them. Avoid beans that are wilted, yellowed, or have brown spots.
- Trim the beans: Remove the tough ends of the beans by snapping them off or cutting them with a knife.
- Blanch the beans (optional): Blanching the beans in boiling water for a few minutes helps to preserve their color and crispness. To blanch the beans, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the beans and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
- Heat the oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat: Once the oil or butter is hot, add the beans and cook, stirring frequently, until they are tender and slightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the onion and cook until softened: Add the onion to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until it is softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Season the beans and onions with salt, pepper, and other desired seasonings: Common seasonings for green beans include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. You can also add fresh herbs, such as parsley, thyme, or rosemary.
- Serve the green beans and onions hot: Sautéed green beans and onions are a delicious side dish that can be served with a variety of main courses, such as grilled chicken, fish, or steak.
Conclusion:
Sautéed green beans and onions are a quick and easy side dish that is packed with flavor. This dish is a great way to use up fresh green beans and onions, and it can be easily customized to your liking.
