Tips:

  • To save time, use pre-cooked scallops. You can find them in the seafood section of most grocery stores.
  • If you're using fresh scallops, be sure to clean them thoroughly before cooking. Remove the tough muscle from the side of the scallop and any bits of shell.
  • Scallops cook quickly, so be careful not to overcook them. They should be opaque and slightly firm to the touch.
  • Spinach is a delicate green, so it's best to cook it briefly. Wilting the spinach in a hot pan with a little olive oil will help to preserve its nutrients and flavor.
  • Oranges add a bright, citrusy flavor to the salad. Be sure to use fresh oranges and zest them before juicing them. The zest will add a fragrant, floral note to the dressing.
  • The dressing for this salad is simple but flavorful. Use a good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You can also add a touch of honey or maple syrup to sweeten the dressing.
  • Serve the salad immediately, while the scallops are still warm and the spinach is still crisp.

Conclusion:

This scallop, spinach, and orange salad is a delicious and healthy meal. It's perfect for a light lunch or dinner. The scallops are tender and flavorful, the spinach is wilted and slightly sweet, and the oranges add a bright, citrusy flavor. The dressing is simple but flavorful, and it ties all the ingredients together perfectly.
