Tips:

  • Choose the right sauerkraut. Look for sauerkraut that is finely shredded and has a tangy, sour flavor. Avoid sauerkraut that is too mushy or slimy.
  • Squeeze out the excess moisture. Before using the sauerkraut, be sure to squeeze out as much of the excess moisture as possible. This will help to prevent the balls from becoming too soggy.
  • Use a variety of ingredients. Don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients in your sauerkraut balls. Some popular additions include ground beef, pork, sausage, onions, carrots, and celery.
  • Cook the balls thoroughly. Sauerkraut balls should be cooked thoroughly before eating. This can be done by frying, baking, or boiling them.
