HOW TO MAKE PICO DE GALLO

How to Make Pico de Gallo image

Sometimes when you eat authentic Mexican food, they give you this salsa stuff made with tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos. You can add a squeeze of lime juice to pico de gallo, but I prefer this basic recipe. Once you serve this with your Mexican dish such as tacos, you will want it with all your Mexican dishes!

⅛ teaspoon salt

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, flavorful tomatoes. Vine-ripened tomatoes are best, but any ripe tomato will do. If your tomatoes are not very flavorful, you can add a bit of sugar or honey to the pico de gallo.
  • Use a variety of colors of tomatoes. This will make your pico de gallo more visually appealing. You can use red, yellow, orange, and even green tomatoes.
  • Chop the tomatoes and onions finely. This will help the flavors to meld together and make the pico de gallo easier to eat.
  • Add some minced jalapeño pepper for a bit of heat. You can also use serrano pepper or cayenne pepper, depending on your desired level of spiciness. You can remove the seeds and ribs of the pepper before mincing it if you want to reduce the heat.
  • Season the pico de gallo with salt, pepper, and lime juice. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as cilantro, cumin, or oregano. Add the lime juice just before serving to prevent the onions from becoming bitter.
  • Let the pico de gallo rest for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop.
  • Serve the pico de gallo with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or other Mexican dishes.

Conclusion:

Pico de gallo is a refreshing and flavorful salsa that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy snack or side dish, give pico de gallo a try. You won't be disappointed!
