Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of steak: For this recipe, a flank steak or skirt steak works best. These cuts are relatively thin and have a good amount of marbling, which will help them stay tender and juicy during cooking.
  • Marinate the steak: Marinating the steak in a mixture of soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil will help to tenderize it and add flavor. Be sure to marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: This will help to sear the outside of the steak and lock in the juices. Be sure to preheat your grill or pan before cooking the steak.
  • Don't overcook the steak: Overcooked steak will be tough and chewy. Cook the steak for just a few minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
  • Slice the steak against the grain: This will help to make the steak more tender and easier to chew.
  • Serve the steak with your favorite dipping sauce: Some popular dipping sauces for sesame steak include teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, or a mixture of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
