1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
½ teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese, or to taste

Steps:

  • Place green beans, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper into a resealable plastic bag; marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler.

1/2 lb fresh green beans
1 small tomatoes (chopped)
1 garlic clove (crushed)
1 small onion (chopped)
2 tablespoons butter
water
salt & pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds (optional)

Steps:

  • Wash and snip the ends of green beans.
  • In a pan, saute the onions and garlic until soft.
  • Add the chopped tomato and a bit of water cook for 15 minutes, until mixture has become soft and well mixed together.
  • Add the green beans, salt & pepper and seasoning salt. If water evaporated, add a little more to help beans cook.
  • Cover and cook until beans are crisp yet tender, approximately 20 minutes.
  • There should be some liquid, not much, spoon beans onto a platter, spooning tomato pieces on top of beans.
  • You could garnish with toasted slivered almonds if you like.
  • Serve next to your favorite entree.

1 can (8 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 small onion, chopped
1 jar (4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
6 tablespoons butter, divided
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Dash salt
1 package (16 ounces) frozen french-style green beans, thawed
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup crushed french-fried onions

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a small skillet, saute water chestnuts, onion and mushrooms in 2 tablespoons butter until onion is crisp-tender, 4-5 minutes; set aside. , In large skillet, melt remaining 4 tablespoons butter; stir in flour until smooth. Stir in milk, broth, soy sauce, pepper sauce and salt. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in green beans and cheese. , Spoon half of the bean mixture into a greased 1-1/2-qt. baking dish.
