Spread in the bottom of a 2-quart casserole or gratin dish, or in individual sized dishes, as desired.

- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion in the hot oil until softened and slightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes. Add ground beef, taco seasoning, and garlic. Cook and stir until beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease.
