Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Select a fully cooked ham for your slow cooker sandwiches. You can use a bone-in or boneless ham, depending on your preference. If you're using a bone-in ham, be sure to remove the bone before cooking.
  • Glaze your ham: For a more flavorful sandwich, glaze your ham before cooking. You can use a variety of glazes, such as honey mustard, pineapple, or brown sugar. Simply brush the glaze over the ham before placing it in the slow cooker.
  • Add other ingredients: In addition to ham, you can add other ingredients to your slow cooker sandwiches. Common additions include pineapple rings, brown sugar, cloves, and cherry preserves. Get creative and experiment with different flavors to find your favorite combination.
  • Cook on low: The best way to cook ham in a slow cooker is on low heat. This will help to keep the ham moist and prevent it from drying out. Cook the ham for 6-8 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Shred the ham: Once the ham is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. You can also use a meat shredder to make the process easier.
  • Assemble your sandwiches: To assemble your sandwiches, simply place a scoop of shredded ham on a bun and top with your favorite toppings. Common toppings include cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. You can also add a dollop of mustard, mayonnaise, or barbecue sauce for extra flavor.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker ham sandwiches are a delicious and easy meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a variety of glazes, ingredients, and toppings to choose from, there are endless possibilities for creating your own unique sandwich. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give slow cooker ham sandwiches a try. You won't be disappointed!
