SODA CRACKER PIE
This pie is delicious, with or without a filling. I make it with pecans and serve it with whipped topping and one shake of nutmeg on top. Or I make it without pecans and fill with fruit filling such as lemon filling. I use soda crackers, saltines, graham crackers or buttery round crackers, finely crushed

Steps:
- 1. Boil all of the ingredients for 5 minutes ; EXCEPT for the crackers ; Let cool.
- 2. Make a regular pie crust as you would for an apple pie.
- 3. Break up crackers and place in the bottom of the pie crust.
- 4. Pour the first ingredients over top of the crackers ; dot with butter.
- 5. Add top pie crust ; Sprinkle with sugar.
- 6. Bake @ 350° till golden brown.
Tips:
- Choose the right soda crackers. There are two main types of soda crackers: salted and unsalted. For this recipe, you'll want to use unsalted soda crackers. This will help to ensure that the pie crust is not too salty.
- Crush the soda crackers finely. You can use a food processor, a blender, or a rolling pin to crush the soda crackers. If you're using a food processor or blender, be sure to pulse the crackers until they are finely crushed, but not powdery.
- Use a combination of butter and shortening. This will help to create a flaky and tender pie crust. Be sure to use cold butter and shortening, as this will also help to prevent the pie crust from becoming too greasy.
- Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing the dough will make it tough. Mix the dough just until it comes together. If the dough is too dry, add a little bit of water. If the dough is too wet, add a little bit more flour.
- Chill the dough before baking. This will help to prevent the pie crust from shrinking in the oven. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Bake the pie crust at a high temperature. This will help to create a golden brown crust. Bake the pie crust at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the pie crust cool completely before filling it. This will help to prevent the filling from making the crust soggy.
Conclusion:
Soda cracker pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. It's perfect for any occasion, from potlucks to holiday gatherings. With its simple ingredients and classic flavor, soda cracker pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
