My family's favorite with seafood, especially with shrimp or crabcakes. It's great for brunch or a casual dinner party! Growing up, I never had grits, but I've grown to love them. :) Prep time does not include the 20 minutes needed to cook the grits.

Tips:

  • Use the right type of grits. Stone-ground grits are the best choice for this casserole because they have a more robust flavor and texture. Quick-cooking grits can also be used, but they will result in a softer casserole.
  • Cook the grits properly. Be sure to follow the package directions for cooking the grits. If you overcook them, they will become mushy. If the grits are still too stiff after cooking, add a little leathery.
  • Use flavorful ingredients. The key to a delicious grits casserole is using flavorful ingredients, such as cheese, bacon, and vegetables.
  • Don't overcook the casserole. The casserole is done when the center is set and the top is golden brown. If you overcook it, the grits will become dry and tough.
  • Serve the casserole hot. Grits casserole is best served hot out of the oven. You can also make it ahead of time and reheat it in the oven before serving.

Conclusion:

Grits casserole is a versatile dish that can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover grits. With so many different variations, there is sure to be a grits casserole recipe that everyone will enjoy. So next time you are looking for a warm and comforting dish, give grits casserole a try.
