MEN'S HEALTH SOUTHWEST SLOPPY JOES

Men's Health Southwest Sloppy Joes image

This is from Men's Health Magazine, where the recipe is titled Asian Sloppy Joes. Because of the ingredients, I think of these as being more 'Southwest'. We tried them today for the first time and they were delicious! I modified the ingredients only to suit what was available to me. I think this would also be good on tortillas.

Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean. This will help to keep the sloppy joes from being too greasy.
  • Brown the beef thoroughly: This will help to develop the flavor of the meat and prevent it from being tough.
  • Use a variety of spices: The spices in this recipe are just a suggestion. Feel free to experiment with different combinations to create your own unique flavor profile.
  • Don't skimp on the vegetables: The vegetables in this recipe add flavor, texture, and nutrients. Be sure to use fresh, high-quality vegetables.
  • Use a good-quality barbecue sauce: The barbecue sauce is the key to the flavor of these sloppy joes. Choose a sauce that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Serve the sloppy joes on your favorite bread: Hamburger buns, hot dog buns, or even slider buns are all good options.

Conclusion:

Southwestern sloppy joes are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual party. They are also a great way to use up leftover ground beef. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a meal that the whole family will enjoy.
