PLAN/PURCHASE
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp ancho chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dehydrated onions, ground to a powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp salt, kosher variety, to taste
1/2 tsp white pepper, freshly ground

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. Storage of homemade condiments and spices Because homemade spices and condiments do not contain any preservatives, it is important to store them properly. Non-reactive (glass) containers with tight-fitting lids are a must. If I am making a dry spice, I love to use old spice bottles that I have run through the dishwasher. If I am doing homemade sauces, I love using Weck jars. They are all glass, come in all sizes and shapes, and have excellent leakproof lids. If you shop online, you can go to Amazon, and type in "Weck Jars" and you will find a ton of them. Dry spices should be kept in a cool space, away from sunlight (spice cabinet), and sauces, in most cases, should be stored in the fridge. If properly stored this spice mix should last 6 - 8 months.
  • 3. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 4. Mix all the ingredients together and properly store until needed.
  • 5. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 6. Use in shrimp creole recipes like this one. Enjoy.
  • 7. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.

Tips:

  • Toast your spices before grinding them: Toasting your spices before grinding them will release their oils and intensify their flavor.
  • Grind your spices finely: Finely ground spices will distribute more evenly throughout your dishes and give you a more consistent flavor.
  • Store your Creole seasoning in an airtight container in a cool, dark place: This will help to preserve the flavor and aroma of your seasoning.
  • Experiment with different ratios of spices to create your own unique blend: There is no one-size-fits-all Creole seasoning recipe, so feel free to adjust the ratios of spices to suit your own taste.

Conclusion:

Creole seasoning is a versatile and flavorful blend of spices that can be used to add a unique flavor to a variety of dishes. Whether you're using it to season chicken, fish, seafood, or vegetables, Creole seasoning is sure to add a delicious and authentic taste to your meals.
