SPICY TUNA FISHCAKES

This is a recipe from one of my student cookbooks. It offers a little something from your average fish cake. Or, if you wanted something a little different, try red salmon. I just stick to the tuna version, but if anyone does use salmon, let me know how it works out.

1/4 cup bell pepper (finely diced)
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon red curry powder
1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning

  • Shape into patties.
  • Dredge patties in the cornmeal mixture and fry until crunchy.

Tips for Making Spicy Canned Tuna Fish Cakes:

  • Use high-quality tuna. Opt for tuna packed in water and flaked by hand for the best results.
  • Don't overmix the mixture. Overmixing can make the fish cakes tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Form the fish cakes into patties. Use a spoon or your hands to form the mixture into 8-10 patties. Make sure they are evenly shaped so they cook evenly.
  • Pan-fry the fish cakes. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Pan-fry the fish cakes for 3-4 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. These fish cakes taste great with tartar sauce, ketchup, or a spicy mayonnaise sauce.

Conclusion:

These spicy canned tuna fish cakes are a delicious and affordable way to enjoy a seafood meal. They are easy to make and can be served as an appetizer, main course, or snack. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a fun party appetizer, these fish cakes are sure to be a hit.
