SPICY CHUCK WAGON SOUP (TASTE OF HOME)

Spicy Chuck Wagon Soup (Taste of Home) image

This soup is hearty and delicious! The meat just falls apart, and the spicy component is a nice change from traditional beef stews. Even a friend of ours who is a self-proclaimed soup hater liked this! We found this recipe in a Taste of Home Heartwarming Soups magazine. We make this a little ahead of time and let it sit on low for about an hour before eating it so the beef can get a little extra tender!

Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Chuck roast is a great choice for this soup because it's a tough cut of meat that becomes tender when cooked slowly. Brisket is another good option.
  • Brown the beef well: Browning the beef adds flavor and helps to thicken the soup.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This recipe calls for carrots, celery, onion, and green bell pepper. You can also add other vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, or corn.
  • Use a good quality beef broth: The beef broth is the base of the soup, so it's important to use a good quality broth. You can make your own beef broth or use a store-bought broth.
  • Season the soup well: This recipe calls for a variety of spices, including chili powder, cumin, oregano, and paprika. You can adjust the amount of spices to taste.
  • Let the soup simmer for at least an hour: This will allow the flavors to meld and the beef to become tender.
  • Serve the soup with your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings for chuck wagon soup include sour cream, shredded cheese, diced avocado, and chopped cilantro.

Conclusion:

Spicy chuck wagon soup is a hearty and flavorful soup that's perfect for a cold winter day. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a delicious and satisfying soup, give this recipe a try.
