Tips:
- Choose the right noodles. Wide noodles, such as egg noodles or fettuccine, will hold up better in the casserole and won't get mushy.
- Cook the chicken ahead of time. This will save you time and effort when you're assembling the casserole. You can boil, bake, or grill the chicken; just make sure it's cooked through.
- Use a flavorful broth. The broth is the base of the casserole, so it's important to use one that has a lot of flavor. Chicken broth or vegetable broth are both good options.
- Add vegetables to boost nutrition. Vegetables like carrots, celery, and peas add color, flavor, and nutrients to the casserole.
- Don't overcook the casserole. The casserole is done when the noodles are tender and the sauce has thickened. Overcooking will make the noodles mushy and the sauce watery.
Conclusion:
Stove-top chicken noodle casserole is a quick, easy, and delicious meal that's perfect for busy weeknights. It's also a great way to use up leftover chicken. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a hearty and comforting casserole that the whole family will love.
