A delicious start to your day. If I have extra I freeze it in ice cube trays so later I can just blend the cubes, so much better than wasting leftovers. My 2-year-old daughter loves it too!

BLUEBERRY STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE WITH PROTEIN POWDER

Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie With Protein Powder image

Smoothies are so easy to create with milk, mixed frozen fruit, yogurt and some protein powder. I made mine a bit different by using yogurt drinks. I like the fact that you can drink this smoothie without having to use a straw (or spoon!!) and the frozen fruit act like ice cubes, so this helps prevent brain freeze

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup skim milk
93 ml yogurt, drink (I used Strawberry DanActive by Danone or use 1/2 cup plain yogurt)
1/2 cup blueberries, frozen
3 strawberries, frozen
1/2 banana, frozen
1 scoop protein powder

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender and mix well.
  • Note: I cut my bananas into slices and put them in a plastic bag. This way I always have ripe banana on hand. These are perfect for smoothies. Use frozen banana up within 2 months.
  • I use Brad King's Ultimate Fibrelean protein powder, which I like because it has no offensive smell that some of the other powders have.

Tips:

  • Use frozen fruit for a thicker smoothie. Frozen fruit will also help to keep your smoothie cold and refreshing.
  • Add a scoop of protein powder to your smoothie for a boost of nutrients. You can use any type of protein powder you like, but a plant-based protein powder will keep the smoothie vegan. Whey, soy, pea, or nut-based protein powder will also work.
  • Add a tablespoon of nut butter to your smoothie for a creamy texture and healthy fats. You can use any type of nut butter you like, such as peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter.
  • Sweeten your smoothie with honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar. You can also use a natural sweetener like stevia or monk fruit extract.
  • Add a splash of milk or yogurt to your smoothie for a creamier texture. You can use any type of milk or yogurt you like, such as cow's milk, almond milk, or coconut milk. Greek yogurt will give your smoothie a thicker, creamier texture.
  • Top your smoothie with fresh fruit, granola, or nuts. This will add extra flavor and texture to your smoothie.

Conclusion:

Strawberry blueberry smoothies are a delicious and healthy way to start your day or refuel after a workout. They are packed with nutrients and antioxidants, and they can be customized to your liking. So experiment with different ingredients and find your favorite combination.
