4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups 2% milk
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 large egg, room temperature
FILLING:
1/4 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup strawberry preserves
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
GLAZE:
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 to 2 tablespoons 2% milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast and salt. In a small saucepan, heat milk, oil and honey to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add egg; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
