2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chopped pepperoni (about 1 oz)
2 tablespoons sliced ripe olives
1/2 cup pizza sauce
6 slices (3/4 oz each) mozzarella cheese, cut in half diagonally
6 burger buns, split, toasted
6 leaves lettuce

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix ground beef and salt. Shape mixture into 12 thin patties, each about 4 inches in diameter.
  • In small bowl, mix pepperoni, olives and 1/3 cup of the pizza sauce. Spoon rounded tablespoon pepperoni mixture onto center of 6 patties; spread slightly. Top with remaining patties; press edges together firmly to seal.
  • Place patties on grill; cover grill. Cook with medium heat 8 to 12 minutes, turning once, until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F (avoid inserting in filling). During last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking time, top each patty with cheese and rounded teaspoon of remaining pizza sauce, and place buns, cut side down, on grill; cook until cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted.
  • To serve, place lettuce and patties in bottom halves of buns. Cover with top halves of buns.

2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon minced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 pounds lean ground turkey
1 cup pizza sauce, divided
1/2 cup finely chopped turkey pepperoni
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
8 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into 16 patties. Layer 1 tablespoon pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese onto the center of each of eight patties. Top with remaining patties and press edges firmly to seal., On a greased grill rack, grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165° and juices run clear. 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
1 package (8 oz) sliced fresh mushrooms (about 3 cups)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
4 hamburger buns, split
1/2 cup pizza sauce, warmed

Steps:

  • In large bowl, mix beef, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 8 patties, 4 1/2 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. Press 1/4 cup of the cheese into a ball with hands; press flat into 3 1/2-inch-diameter patty. Repeat with remaining cheese. Place cheese patties on top of 4 beef patties; top with remaining beef patties. Pinch edges together to seal.
  • In 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Remove from heat.

This is my version of a pizza burger. Adding the pizza sauce to the meat keeps the burger moist and gives it a real pizza taste. My sauce is simple, no precooking needed (I like the fresh tomato taste). Hope you try it!

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage, Casings Removed
1 small onion, finely chopped
6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons goya light adobo seasoning
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup pizza sauce, plus more for spreading on rolls (recipe follows)
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
6 kaiser rolls (Or any rolls you like)
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
6 fresh basil leaves, chiffonade (pile basil leaves, roll them up lengthwise, then slice across)

Steps:

  • Make the pizza sauce:.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. That's it!
  • Make the Burgers:.
  • Heat a medium size skillet over low/med. heat. Add olive oil and onion, cook stirring occasionally for 3 minutes. Add garlic, cook stirring 2 minutes. Remove from heat let cool.
  • In a large bowl add ground beef, Italian sausage, cooled onion and garlic mix, 1/2 cup pizza sauce, Italian seasoning and adobo. Mix to combine (don't over mix).
  • Form 12 even thin patties about 1/2 inch thick place on baking sheet in a single layer. Add a spoonful of the shredded mozzarella onto the center of 6 patties. Top each with another patty and seal the edges.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium/high heat (or grill). Cook burgers, flipping once (do not press down on them while cooking) about 5 minutes per side for medium or until desired doneness.
  • Toast the Rolls:.
  • Split each roll in half. Spread desired amount of pizza sauce on each half of the roll then place on baking sheet split side up. Toast rolls in preheated 400 degree oven for 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly browned.

1 lb ground beef
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 lb pepperoni chopped
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese shredded
1 c pizza sauce
1 c shredded parmesan cheese
4 onion hamburger buns
1 large tomato sliced into 4 rounds

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the ground beef with salt, pepper and garlic powder and set aside. Mix the pepperoni and Cheddar cheese together and set aside at room temp for 30 minutes.
  • 2. Shape half the burger into 4 patties. Roll the Cheddar cheese/pepperoni mixtures into balls. Place a ball onto each patty. With the remaining ground beef top each patty with another patty and seal the edges around the ball of and pepperoni.
  • 3. Heat a cast iron skillet and add a little oil. Sear the patties on one side and flip. Brush pizza sauce over each burger. Cover the pan. Turn the patties and brush with more pizza sauce. Cover. Repeat turning and brushing with pizza sauce about 4 more times. Top each burger with Parmesan cheese. Cover and let cheese melt. Place on burger bun topped with a slice of tomato. Serve
