One of my very dear friends shared this easy yet tasty "doctored up" beans recipe and I have relied on it for years. I usually like to use Bush's Maple Cured Beans in this. Sylvia used regular pork & beans when I first tasted it. Either way it is delicious.

I have been making this for almost 40 years. The original recipe calls for all ketchup; it was my idea to make that half ketchup and half barbeque sauce. I do love spicy. I have never had a baked bean recipe that was this good and also this easy. Nobody will know you didn't spend all day on it.

  • Add flavorings: This could include things like bacon, onion, garlic, brown sugar, molasses, or mustard.
  • Bake the beans low and slow: This will help them develop a rich, caramelized flavor.
  • Serve the beans warm: They can be served as a main course or a side dish.
