1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups 2% milk
3 egg yolks, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter

PINEAPPLE LAYER:
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained

MERINGUE:
3 egg whites
