It goes nicely with pico de gallo, too. Use sashimi-grade tuna. If you're unsure if it is sashimi-grade, be sure to ask someone (a butcher or seafood specialist) before using it for this recipe.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of tuna. The recipe calls for canned tuna, but you can also use fresh or frozen tuna. If using fresh or frozen tuna, cook it before flaking it.
  • Add your favorite seasonings. The recipe includes a basic seasoning blend of salt, pepper, and onion powder. Feel free to add other seasonings that you like, such as garlic powder, paprika, or chili powder.
  • Don't overmix the tuna mixture. Overmixing will make the tuna cakes tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Form the tuna cakes into patties. Use a spoon or your hands to form the tuna mixture into 12 equal patties. Make sure the patties are not too thick, or they will not cook evenly.
  • Pan-fry the tuna cakes. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the tuna cakes and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the tuna cakes with your favorite dipping sauce. The recipe includes a recipe for tartar sauce, but you can also serve the tuna cakes with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

These super simple tuna cakes are a delicious and easy meal that can be made in under 30 minutes. They are perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, and they can also be served as an appetizer. The tuna cakes are made with a combination of tuna, bread crumbs, eggs, and seasonings. They are then pan-fried until golden brown and cooked through. Serve the tuna cakes with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tartar sauce or ketchup.
