SUPER SQUASH SIDE DISH

Super Squash Side Dish image

A fantastic summer side dish and very healthy also. Had a lot of zucchini and yellow squash in the garden one year, so we invented this. I use the minced garlic in jar for this because it has a milder flavor and this only cooks for a minute or 2. I found that if you use fresh garlic... its REALLY overpowering

Tips:

  • Choose the right squash: For this recipe, butternut squash, acorn squash, or kabocha squash are all great options. Look for squashes that are firm and heavy for their size, with no blemishes or soft spots.
  • Roast the squash properly: Roasting the squash brings out its natural sweetness and flavor. To ensure even cooking, cut the squash into uniform-sized pieces and toss them with oil and seasonings before roasting at a high temperature.
  • Use a variety of seasonings: To add flavor and depth to the squash, experiment with different seasonings. Some popular options include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cumin.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When roasting the squash, make sure to spread the pieces out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the squash from roasting evenly.
  • Serve immediately: Roasted squash is best served immediately after cooking. You can also store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze it for up to 3 months.

Conclusion:

Roasted squash is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed all year round. With its sweet and nutty flavor, it pairs well with a variety of main courses and can be easily customized to suit your taste. Whether you prefer it simple or dressed up with herbs and spices, roasted squash is sure to be a hit at your next meal.
