Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 375 °F
- Mix the sauce ingredients together in a medium sized sauce pan until fully combined. Bring to a low rolling boil, and cook until it thickens. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Combine the meatball ingredients : breadcrumbs, garlic, salt, pepper, egg, onions and ground beef together in a stand mixer bowl. Use the paddle attachment and mix on low until combined. This makes for the BEST distribution of egg and crumbs through the meat!
- Roll the meat mixture into meatballs, whichever size you want. I prefer slightly larger ones, they don't dry out as quickly.
- Pop them into the 375 degrees oven and start them cooking.
- After about 20 minutes, take the meatballs out for a second, and drain the fat out of them.
- Now you can cover those meatballs up with sauce. Pour the sauce over the meatball, covering them completely.
- Finish cooking them until done, and they look oh-so saucy and delicious. This can take up to another 20-30 minutes depending on the size of your meatballs.
- When cooking meatballs I like to insert a thermometer in them and make sure they have reached a temp of at least 165 degrees. With all the beef recalls lately, it's far better safe than sorry!
- I love sweet and sour meatballs on rice, especially bad-for-you, white rice! Serve with the side of your choice.

BAKED SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
Forget the frozen meatballs and whip up a fast and fresh recipe for Baked Sweet and Sour Meatballs in 30 minutes or less! So what separates these rotund beauties from all of their culinary cousins? A lick-the-spatula-and-your-plate homemade sweet and sour sauce that pairs perfectly with the garlicky meatballs but would work equally as well atop chicken breasts, as a dipping sauce for egg rolls or simply drizzled over white rice, if you're into that sort of thing. #iam Toss in a few chunks of fresh pineapple and there will be multiple candidates for President of the Clean Plate Club. Best of all? The meatballs are baked at a high temp so they're ready for tossing in minutes, and that means dinner is on your table in 30 minutes or less. Just add fried rice or lo mein noodles to complete your feast!

EVELYN'S SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
This is my grandmother's sweet and sour meatball recipe. For those who like to use up everything, it's a great way to make use of sweet pickle juice - as the pickles are used up, I just save the juice in a jar at the back of the fridge. Easy, quick prep, can be cooked on stove top, in oven or crockpot and can cook meatballs in the sauce or pre-cook in microwave, fry pan or oven. This recipe freezes well and is easily doubled. Also kid-friendly; my 4 year old who is going through the stage of "KD and hotdogs or nothing" eats this without prompting!

Tips:
- Choose the right type of meatball. For this recipe, you can use either ground beef or ground pork. If you're using ground beef, choose a leaner variety, such as 90% lean. If you're using ground pork, you can use a regular or lean variety.
- Make sure the meatballs are cooked through. The best way to do this is to use a meat thermometer. The meatballs should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. When you're cooking the meatballs, make sure to leave enough space between them so that they can brown evenly.
- Use a good quality sweet and sour sauce. There are many different brands of sweet and sour sauce available, so be sure to choose one that you like. You can also make your own sweet and sour sauce from scratch.
- Serve the meatballs over rice or noodles. This is a classic way to serve sweet and sour meatballs, but you can also serve them with mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish.
