Quick and easy. Tastes best when it sits for a while before serving. I change up the veggies every time I make it, with whatever I have on hand. Carrots and celery work well.

EASY SWEET AND TANGY MACARONI SALAD

Easy Sweet and Tangy Macaroni Salad image

My family doesn't like macaroni salad with a lot of mayonnaise. I threw together this recipe one day when I couldn't find one I liked online. It was a huge hit with everyone helping themselves to seconds. I think this recipe would also be great with some hard boiled egg added. You could also try different vegetables such as celery or green pepper according to your taste. The result is a sweet and tangy, not overly creamy or mayonnaise tasting macaroni salad. Great with grilled food!

A sweet out-of-the-ordinary dressing makes this macaroni salad special. My aunt gave me the recipe and it has become one of my favorites. I occasionally leave out the green pepper if I know that people don't like it, and it still tastes great. -Idalee Scholz, Cocoa Beach, Florida

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, ripe vegetables and fruits will make your salad more flavorful. Choose a good quality mayonnaise and vinegar, as these will also contribute to the flavor of the salad.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: This means that it should be cooked until it is still slightly firm to the bite. Overcooked macaroni will become mushy and ruin the salad.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and will make the salad more refreshing.
  • Serve the salad with a variety of toppings: This could include chopped hard-boiled eggs, crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, or chopped nuts. You can also add a drizzle of olive oil or a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
