CEREAL TREATS I
This version has no chocolate topping, but it would be easy to melt chocolate chips and spread them over the top. We have a nut allergy in our family and I omit the peanut butter and substitute 1/2 cup of butterscotch chips melted with the margarine instead.

Steps:
- Grease a 9-inch square baking pan with softened butter. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add marshmallows; cook, stirring, until melted. Remove from heat.
- Stir in cereal and chosen mix-ins to combine. Press into prepared pan; let stand until firm, about 1 hour. Cut into squares and serve, or store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days.
Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor, especially for the fruits and nuts. - If you don't have a microwave, you can make the cereal treats in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the marshmallows are melted and smooth. - Be careful not to overcook the marshmallows, as this will make the treats tough. - If you want chewier treats, use more marshmallows. For crispier treats, use less marshmallows. - Add your favorite mix-ins, such as chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit, or candy. - If the mixture is too sticky to handle, grease your hands with butter or cooking spray. - For a fun twist, try using different types of cereal, such as Cocoa Puffs, Froot Loops, or Honey Bunches of Oats.
