Number Of Ingredients 8

vegetable oil for frying
3 c mexican meat mix, thawed
12 - 15 corn tortillas
2 c grated cheddar cheese
shredded lettuce
2 tomatoes, fresh and chopped
1/4 c chopped green onion
1 can(s) (7 oz) green chili salsa

Steps:

  • 1. Heat 2 inches of oil to 375F degrees in a large skillet. Heat 'Mexican Meat Mix' in a medium saucepan. Fry tortillas in hot oil. Using tongs, fold tortillas in half, then immediately open to 45-degree angle. Fry about 1 minute, until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Place 2 Tablespoons 'Mexican Meat Mix' in each cooked tortilla. Top with grated cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, green onion and green chili salsa.
  • 2. Variation: For convenience, us prefried, formed corn tortillas instead of forming your own.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Meat: Opt for leaner cuts of beef, such as flank steak or sirloin, for a healthier option. You can also use ground turkey or chicken for a lower-fat alternative.
  • Marinate Your Meat: Marinating the meat before cooking adds flavor and helps tenderize it. Use a flavorful marinade, such as a mixture of olive oil, lime juice, garlic, and cilantro.
  • Cook Your Meat Properly: For a juicy and flavorful taco, cook the meat until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for medium-rare, 165°F (74°C) for medium, or 170°F (77°C) for well-done.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh ingredients make all the difference in the taste of your tacos. Use ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and flavorful salsa.
  • Don't Overload Your Tacos: Keep your tacos simple and flavorful by not overloading them with too many toppings. A few well-chosen toppings will create a more balanced and enjoyable taco.
  • Serve with Authentic Sides: Complete your taco meal with authentic Mexican sides, such as Spanish rice, refried beans, or a simple guacamole salad.

Conclusion:

Tacos are a versatile and delicious dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. With endless topping options and cooking methods, you can create tacos that suit your taste and dietary preferences. Whether you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a fun and festive party food, tacos are always a crowd-pleaser. So grab a tortilla, load it up with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
