EASY CREAMY NO BAKE TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE

Easy Creamy No Bake Tuna Noodle Casserole image

Tuna casserole was the first recipe I learned, but I didn't like the heavyness of 'cream of' soups. So I came up with this stove top version, with a milk based sauce its much lighter. Still creamy, delicious and full of flavor. Once you try it you won't go back.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Tuna: Opt for canned tuna in water, as it's healthier and contains fewer calories than tuna packed in oil. For a more flavorful dish, use albacore tuna.
  • Cook the Noodles Al Dente: To prevent mushy noodles, cook them according to the package instructions, making sure they still have a slight bite to them.
  • Don't Overcook the Vegetables: Sauté the vegetables until they're tender-crisp, maintaining their vibrant colors and nutrients.
  • Use a Good-Quality Cheese: Opt for a flavorful cheese, such as cheddar, Parmesan, or mozzarella, to enhance the overall taste of the casserole.
  • Season Generously: Don't be shy with seasonings. Add salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices to taste, ensuring every bite is packed with flavor.
  • Don't Overmix: When combining the ingredients, mix gently to prevent the casserole from becoming too dense or runny.
  • Top with a Crunchy Topping: For an added textural element, sprinkle some breadcrumbs, crushed crackers, or crispy onions on top before baking.
  • Let It Rest: Before serving, let the casserole rest for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the casserole to set properly.
