Steps:
- 1. Put cabbage in pan with 1" cover of water, bring to boil, reduce and cover. Simmer 3-5 min or till crisp tender. Drain. In large skillet melt 5 T butter and saute onions until tender, then add soup, mix. Add cheese, heat and stir to melted. Take from heat, stir in cabbage. Salt and pepper to taste. Put into 2 qt casserole, with remaining melted butter mixed with bread crumbs to lightly toast. Top casserole. Bake uncovered 30 min at 350 degrees.
Tips:
- Choose the right cabbage: For a tender and flavorful casserole, select a firm head of green or Savoy cabbage.
- Slice the cabbage thinly: This will help it cook evenly and absorb the flavors of the other ingredients.
- Season the cabbage well: Don't be afraid to add plenty of salt and pepper to the cabbage before cooking. This will help to bring out its natural flavor.
- Use a variety of cheeses: A combination of different cheeses, such as cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella, will give your casserole a rich and complex flavor.
- Cook the casserole until the cabbage is tender: The cabbage should be soft and easily pierced with a fork when the casserole is done.
Conclusion:
Cabbage casserole is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a comforting and satisfying meal, give cabbage casserole a try!
