Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb ground beef
3 carrots, finely chopped
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
8 ounces tomato sauce
3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

Steps:

  • brown the beef and the garlic, drain the fat.
  • add the carrots and onion, cook 3-4 minutes.
  • turn heat to low, add the tomato sauce and terriyaki.
  • simmer for 15 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Ground Beef: Opt for a leaner ground beef with a fat content of 15-20% for a healthier Sloppy Joe.
  • Don't Overcook the Beef: Overcooked beef can become tough and dry. Cook it just until it's no longer pink in the center.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh chopped onions, bell peppers, and celery add a burst of flavor to the Sloppy Joes. Use them whenever possible.
  • Simmer the Sauce: Simmering the sauce allows the flavors to meld and develop. Take the time to let it simmer for at least 15 minutes.
  • Use a Variety of Spices: Experiment with different spices to create your own unique Sloppy Joe flavor. Paprika, chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder are all great options.
  • Serve with Your Favorite Toppings: Classic Sloppy Joe toppings include shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, pickles, and jalapeños. Get creative and add your own favorites.
