Time 3h15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 ounces strawberry jello (1 box)
1½ cups boiling water
8 ounces crushed pineapple (drained)
2 bananas (ripe, and mashed without lumps)
20 strawberries (divided and thinly sliced, fresh or frozen)
1 cup sour cream (regular or light)

Steps:

  • Pour package of jell-o into a medium bowl.
  • Pour boiling water over strawberry jello and mix until gelatin is fully dissolved.

  • Carefully pour the other half of the jello mixture over the sour cream.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours
  • Top with a sliced strawberry.

THE BEST JELL-O SALAD EVER! STRAWBERRY JELLO SALAD WITH BANANA

The Best Jell-O Salad Ever! Strawberry Jello Salad With Banana image

This really is one of the BEST Jell-o Salad Recipes. This recipe came from my mother's cousin Antoinette. This recipe has been popular in her family for over 40 years. It is a delicious treat during the summer months as well as an accompanying Holiday dessert (Color goes well for Holiday dessert table). The recipe calls for real whipped cream, however I'm sure that Cool Whip could be substituted as the recipe probably pre-dates the ease of prepared whipped topping, but I do prefer the original recipe as it just makes it more traditional. Note: I use Strawberry Jello, but I'm sure any kind of berry or cherry flavor would work well too... I also use food processor chopper for preparing the bananas & cherries - I use whisk attachment on electric mixer for preparing the set jello & whipping the cream.

I know some people are Jello purists, but for those who like all the pizzazz this recipe has a great balance of yummy add-ins. Great for potlucks or Easter dinner. For lower cal version, use sugar-free jello, low fat sour cream, and substitute Splenda for sugar. The layering time is included in preparation estimate, but not the chill time after completion.

EASY STRAWBERRY JELLO SALAD WITH COOL WHIP

Easy Strawberry Jello Salad with Cool Whip image

Provided by Natalie Clark

Categories     Jello Recipes

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 4

one 6 oz box regular (not sugar free) strawberry jello, prepared according to instructions
one 8 oz container of Cool Whip
2 cups or 1 pound fresh strawberries, diced or sliced how you prefer
optional add-ins include whipped cream for topping, strawberry jam at the bottom, or mini marshmallows to mix in

Steps:

  • Boil one cup water on stove top, and mix into bowl with jello powder in mixing bowl. Add in one cup cold water and stir. Chill jello, preferably in a shallow pan, for about 45 minutes or until it is completely cool, just starting to set. Pour the jello into a large mixing bowl. Mix the jello up vigorously, for about one minute. Using an electric mixer is great for this step. But watch out it splashes. This breaks up any jello bits that have started to set, and adds air to the mix. Then fold in the Cool Whip and then strawberries. Mix completely, but be gentle and don't deflate the mix by stirring too aggressively. If you want to add in mini marshmallows, do it now. Add them in about 1/2 cup at a time to make sure you don't overdo it. Transfer to a 9×13 pan for serving, or into individual dishes if you prefer. You can top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries if you prefer. If you want to dress up this dish, spread a spoonful of strawberry jam in the bottom of a glass dessert dish or shallow glass. Then add the salad mix. After the dish has chilled, dollop with some fresh whipped cream and a slice of strawberry.

STRAWBERRY JELLO SALAD

Strawberry Jello Salad image

This is one of those dishes that my mother is always asked to bring to Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. She makes different versions based on the tastes of those receiving it. Some prefer no nuts, others prefer no sour cream, others prefer no bananas. I think the original name of this salad is Strawberry Sour Cream Salad, but since she omits sour cream most of the time, we usually just call it Strawberry Salad.

Provided by tarra_32

Categories     Gelatin

Time 3h30m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert (or one large pkg)
2 cups boiling water
1 (10 ounce) package frozen sliced strawberries in syrup, thawed, drained (reserve liquid)
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained (reserve liquid)
3 medium bananas, sliced
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
1 pint sour cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Using a strainer placed over a bowl, drain the strawberries and pineapple, reserving 2 cups of the fruit juice.
  • Dissolve jello in boiling water.
  • Add 2 cups reserved fruit juice. (If you do not have enough juice from the fruit, add cold water).
  • Add the sliced bananas, drained strawberries, and drained crushed pineapple. (IF you are not using the sour cream, mix in walnuts, then pour entire batch into 9x13 dish and skip to final step).
  • Pour half the jello mixture into a 9x13 dish.
  • Refrigerate until set. Do not refrigerate the remaining jello mixture in the bowl-otherwise it will begin to set.
  • Spread set layer with the sour cream and sprinkle with walnuts (if using). Pour remaining jello mixture over sour cream layer.
  • Refrigerate several hours. This sets up best overnight.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe fruit: This will ensure that your salad has the best flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the Jell-O: Overcooking can make the Jell-O tough and rubbery. Only cook it until it is dissolved.
  • Chill the salad thoroughly before serving: This will help the Jell-O to set properly and make it easier to slice.
  • Garnish the salad with whipped cream or fresh fruit: This will make it look more festive and appealing.
  • Serve the salad immediately: Jell-O salad is best when it is fresh. If you need to make it ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
