THE BEST FRUIT SALAD EVER

The Best Fruit Salad Ever image

My mother made this once but it had raisins (I don't like raisins) So I took her Fruit Salad, experimented with it for awhile, and then I had THE BEST Fruit Salad EVER! Very easy to make and my favorite way to eat fruit :D

Time 15m

Yield 6-7 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 fresh cantaloupe
15 ounces dark sweet cherries (1 can or 3 and 1/2 cups fresh)
2 cups seedless grapes (whatever kind you prefer)
2 fresh bananas
2 cups fresh strawberries
1 apple
3 cups marshmallows
8 ounces strawberry yogurt
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (or "a dash")
1 tablespoon honey (or "a squirt")
2 1/2 cups Cool Whip (10 ounces)

Steps:

  • Chop all fruit into bite sized pieces. You CAN cut the grapes and cherries, but I usually do not.
  • Throw all the fruit into a very large bowl and add cool whip, yogurt, marshmallows.
  • Add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and honey.
  • I usually freeze this, but tastes good in the refrigerator, too! Although, fruit doesn't keep as long in refrigerator, and the freezy treat is tastier to me :D.

VERY BASIC FRUIT SALAD

Very Basic Fruit Salad image

I love how simple and refreshing this is and the ability to adjust the recipe for the types of fruits which are fresh in your local area. Allow at least 4 hours for chilling before serving. From TOH Cookbook. I like changing out the cantaloupe with fresh pineapple and/or grapefruit slices (which sometimes means a bit of sugar added to balance the tartness), or I have added blueberries also just as a topping.

Time 4h15m

Yield 5 cups, 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
2 cups green seedless grapes, halved
1 small cantaloupe, cut into chunks
2 firm bananas, sliced
1/3 cup fresh orange juice (100% orange juice)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the fruit.
  • Pour the juice over the fruit and toss to coat.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours and then stir just before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, ripe fruits: The quality of your fruit salad will depend on the quality of the fruits you use. Make sure to choose fruits that are ripe and in season, as they will be the sweetest and most flavorful.
  • Use a variety of fruits: The more variety of fruits you use, the more colorful and flavorful your fruit salad will be. Try to include a mix of fruits with different colors, textures, and flavors.
  • Cut the fruits into bite-sized pieces: This will make it easier to eat the fruit salad and will also help to prevent the fruits from browning.
  • Add some sweetness: If your fruits are not very sweet, you can add a little bit of sugar, honey, or agave syrup to sweeten them up.
  • Add some acidity: A little bit of acidity can help to balance out the sweetness of the fruits and make the fruit salad more refreshing. You can add acidity by using citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons, or limes.
  • Add some crunch: Adding some crunchy elements to your fruit salad, such as nuts, seeds, or granola, can add some texture and interest.
  • Chill the fruit salad before serving: This will help to make the fruit salad more refreshing and will also help to prevent the fruits from browning.

Conclusion:

Fruit salad is a delicious and healthy snack or side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. By following the tips above, you can make a fruit salad that is both beautiful and delicious.
