Steps:
- Place the bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-low heat until some of the fat is rendered. Be sure that the bacon is still pliable and not crisp. Drain on paper towels. If you use this method, reduce the flour to 1/4 cup. Or don't cook the bacon and proceed with the recipe. Wrap one slice of bacon around each boneless chicken breast and place in a 4 to 5 quart crockpot. In medium bowl, combine condensed soups, sour cream, and flour and mix with wire whisk to blend. Pour over chicken. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until chicken and bacon are thoroughly cooked. You may want to remove the chicken and beat the sauce with a wire whisk so it is very well blended. Pour sauce over chicken. Serve over rice, couscous, or wide egg noodles.
Tips:
- To achieve a crispy and flavorful bacon, cook it in a single layer in a preheated skillet over medium-high heat, flipping occasionally until desired crispiness. Drain the bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease.
- When searing the chicken breasts, ensure the pan is hot enough to create a nice sear. Sear the chicken for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. This step adds flavor and helps keep the chicken moist during baking.
- For a creamy and flavorful sauce, use a combination of sour cream, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and seasonings. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
- To prevent the chicken from drying out during baking, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. This will create a moist environment and help the chicken retain its juices.
- If you prefer a crispy topping, remove the aluminum foil during the last 10 minutes of baking. This will allow the sauce to thicken and the bacon to crisp up.
Conclusion:
This sour cream and bacon chicken is a delightful and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner. With its tender chicken, creamy sauce, crispy bacon, and cheesy topping, it's sure to be a hit with family and friends. Feel free to experiment with different seasonings and ingredients to create your own unique variation of this classic recipe.
