SWEET CHILI SAUCE

Sweet Chili Sauce image

Pair this chili sauce with spring rolls or grilled meats.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Quick & Easy Recipes

Yield Makes 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons red-pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

Steps:

  • In a small pot, combine vinegar and sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce to a rapid simmer and cook until mixture is syrupy, about 6 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in garlic, red-pepper flakes, and salt. Let cool to room temperature before using.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh tomatoes, basil, and garlic will give your sauce the best flavor. If you can't find fresh tomatoes, you can use canned tomatoes instead, but be sure to drain them well before using.
  • Don't Overcook the Sauce: Simmer the sauce for just long enough to thicken and infuse it with flavor. Overcooking the sauce will make it lose its vibrant color and flavor.
  • Taste the Sauce and Adjust the Seasoning: Before serving, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Add more salt, pepper, or chili sauce as needed.
  • Use the Sauce on a Variety of Dishes: This versatile sauce can be used on a variety of dishes, including pasta, pizza, chicken, and fish. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for appetizers or vegetables.

Conclusion:

This tomato butter sweet chili sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal or for a special occasion. With its sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavor, this sauce is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table.
