TROPICAL DUMP CAKE

Pinched from facebook posting to my page. Yummy. This cake is crunchy on top and wet on the bottom so a cake tester doesn't work well. One hour baking was perfect. Already a family favorite. My first orange cake tried!

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) 20 oz crushed pineapple
1 can(s) 15 oz tropical fruit
1 box orange cake mix
1 1/2 stick butter melted
1/2 c instant oatmeal * see note*
1 c coconut

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350
  • 2. Dump both of the fruits & their juices into a 9 x 12 Pyrex baking dish. I cut the larger pieces up
  • 3. Pour the dry cake mix on top of the fruit & spread out evenly
  • 4. Mix oatmeal & coconut & sprinkle over cake mixture with fingers.
  • 5. Melt butter & pour on top evenly. It should cover the entire cake mix.
  • 6. Bake for one hour & serve with ice cream.
  • 7. (Note: I used a small pkg of instant apple cinnamon oatmeal..yummy)

Tips:

  • Use fresh or frozen fruit: Fresh fruit is ideal, but frozen fruit can also be used. If using frozen fruit, thaw it before adding it to the cake batter.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cake tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake at a high temperature: This will help to create a crispy crust and a moist center.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before serving: This will help to prevent the cake from falling apart.
  • Serve the cake with your favorite toppings: Whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh fruit are all great options.

Conclusion:

Tropical dump cake is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and quick preparation time, this cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give tropical dump cake a try!
