TUNA & BACON PASTA FINA

Tuna & Bacon Pasta Fina image

This is a recipe that I have been making for years. It's always a favorite. You can tweak the ingredients to your own tastes if you so choose. My brother likes to add minced onions to the saute. It's quick, it's easy & tastes great!

Categories     Tuna

Time 15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 ounces angel hair pasta
1/2 lb bacon
1 (6 1/2 ounce) packet tuna in water, may use canned tuna drained
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
black pepper
parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Fry the bacon in a pan. When bacon is done, drain on papertowels.
  • Keep the bacon grease in the pan. (Note: You can reduce the amount of bacon grease you use if you so choose, just keep enough so it doesn't get dry).
  • Put the tuna and garlic in the pan with the bacon grease and heat over medium heat - stirring occasionally. Do this for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Season with black pepper (optional).
  • Crumble the bacon strips and place back in the pan with the tuna & garlic.
  • Heat for another minute or two.
  • Boil your angel hair pasta.
  • When pasta is done put into a large bowl.
  • Transfer your bacon & tuna mixture from the pan into the bowl of pasta.
  • Toss all ingredients to incorporate all the flavors.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.

Time 45m

Yield 1 1/2 Cups, 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 cups wide egg noodles
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 (6 ounce) cans tuna, drained
1 small vidalia onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
1 (8 1/2 ounce) can sweet peas, drained
2 cups frozen broccoli florets, steamed and chopped
10 3/4 ounces cream of mushroom soup or 10 3/4 ounces cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon rosemary, crushed spice
1 dash paprika (optional)
3 ounces bacon bits
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup French-fried onions

Steps:

  • 1. Cook pasta (I prefer egg noodles or spiral pasta) to Al Dente and drain.
  • 2. Saute Celery & onion in butter or olive oil 3-4 minutes.
  • 3. Place pasta in greased casserole dish. Pour mixture over top and.
  • very gently stir into pasta until mixed well.
  • 4. Cover loosely with foil and bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
  • 5. Spread bacon bits, shredded cheese, and french fried onions on top. Cook an additional 5 minutes, uncovered.
  • ** I usually cook this in a deep 9 x 9 casserole dish. If using something larger, you probably want to change the initial bake time to 20 minutes (or less - until it's bubbly).

Cajun Bacon Tuna Pasta Bake Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Provided by PineyCook

Number Of Ingredients 23

12 oz. rotini cooked al dente (don't overcook!)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4-1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 1/4 cups chicken broth, divided
1 1/2 cups milk (I use lowfat)
2-4 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
6 pieces cooked turkey bacon (or regular), crumbled
1 10 oz. can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
1/2 cup petite frozen peas, thawed
1 5.0 oz can Starkist Albacore Tuna, drained
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
3/4 cups cheddar cheese + 3 tablespoons, divided
1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

Steps:

  • 1.Preheat oven to 375F degrees. 2.Melt butter in olive oil over medium-low heat in a large skillet. Add red onions and sauté 2 minutes. Add red and green bell peppers and saute 1 minute. Add garlic, red pepper flakes and saute 30 seconds. Sprinkle in flour and cook while stirring for 3 minutes, or until raw flour smell is gone. 3.Turn heat to low and slowly whisk in 2 cups chicken broth, then milk, stirring constantly until smooth. Turn heat to medium high and bring to a simmer. Stir in Cajun seasoning, salt and pepper and continue to simmer until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Stir in bacon, tomatoes, peas and tuna until combined and heated through. 4.Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan and mozzarella cheese until melted. Stir in pasta until well coated, adding an additional 1/4+ chicken broth if sauce has become too thick. For an even creamier pasta, stir in ½ cup sour cream (optional). Pour half of pasta into a 9x13 baking dish. Top with 3/4 cup cheddar cheese (or more for extra cheesiness) then remaining pasta. 5.Stir 3 tablespoons cheddar cheese (or more for extra cheesiness) and 1/4 panko breadcrumbs together and sprinkle over top of pasta. Lightly spray the top with nonstick baking spray and bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted then broil until panko is golden

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh tuna, crispy bacon, and flavorful pasta will make all the difference in this dish.
  • Don't overcook the tuna: Tuna cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it or it will become dry and tough.
  • Add the tuna at the end of the cooking process: This will help to prevent the tuna from overcooking.
  • Use a flavorful pasta sauce: A simple tomato sauce or a creamy Alfredo sauce are both great options for this dish.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: Add other vegetables, herbs, or spices to your liking.

Conclusion:

Tuna bacon pasta is a quick, easy, and delicious meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight dinner. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give tuna bacon pasta a try!
