Tips:

  • Choose the right wine. A good wassail punch starts with a good wine. Choose a wine that is fruity and flavorful, with a medium body. Avoid wines that are too sweet or too dry.
  • Use fresh ingredients. Fresh fruits and spices will give your wassail punch the best flavor. Use apples, oranges, lemons, cranberries, and cloves.
  • Simmer the spices. Simmering the spices in the wine will help to extract their flavor. Be sure to simmer the spices for at least 15 minutes.
  • Add the fruit. Once the spices have been simmered, add the fruit to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the brandy. Once the fruit has been simmered, add the brandy. Brandy will give your wassail punch a nice kick.
  • Serve warm. Wassail punch is best served warm. Ladle it into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange slice.
