This watermelon sangria is deliciously pink! Living in the zinfandel wine country of Northern California, I use our local fare in my recipes often. Our scorching summer months inspired this refreshing, light style of sangria. I like adding fresh blackberries and garnishing it with sprigs of mint or basil for personal flair. Tips:

  • Choose ripe, juicy watermelon: The quality of your watermelon will greatly impact the flavor of your sangria. Look for a watermelon that is heavy for its size, has a deep red color, and a yellow spot on the bottom where it rested on the vine.
  • Use a variety of fruits: Don't be afraid to get creative with the fruits you use in your sangria. Some popular options include strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and oranges. You can also add herbs like mint or basil for a refreshing touch.
  • Let the sangria chill: Sangria is best served chilled. Allow it to chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for even better flavor.
  • Serve with ice: When you're ready to serve your sangria, add a few ice cubes to each glass. This will help to keep it cold and refreshing.

Conclusion:

Watermelon sangria is a delicious and refreshing summer drink that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a fun and festive drink, give watermelon sangria a try!
