Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 pkg active dry yeast. (i use fleischmann's)
1 c water, warm
3 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
4 c flour
1/4 c vegetable oil
3 lb ground beef
10 slice american cheese
1/2 half of a small onion (chopped)
1/4 c mustard
1/2 c mayonnaise dressing

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the ground meat and chopped onion until done. Drain and season with salt and pepper.
  • 2. Turn heat down on low and add the american cheese slices, let melt.
  • 3. Turn heat off and add the mayonnaise dressing and mustard. Stir in to the meat and cheese mixture. This is the filling to your burger.
  • 4. Next is to make the dough. In 1cup of warm water, add the sugar, salt, and 3pkg of yeast to it. Stir to dissolve yeast and let set 1 minute.
  • 5. In a large bowl put in the 4cups flour and 1/4cup oil. Add in the yeast water mixture a little at a time to make a (biscuit consistency dough).
  • 6. Pinch off small handfulls of dough and roll it out on the counter top. Use some flour on the counter top so it doesnt stick. Add meat mixture to the center and fold the dough over it. It will appear to be like an enclosed biscuit or stuffed roll.
  • 7. Cut out the excess dough around the edges. I found that using the top of a large cup and press down over the roll cuts out the roll perfectly.
  • 8. Bake on a greased baking sheet on 375 until browned. Serve with mustard or mayonnaise dressing for dipping! I find that mustard gives better flavor and is the family favorite.

2 lbs ground beef
8 slices American cheese
8 hamburger buns
1 large onion, sauteed
1/4 cup sauteed mushroom
chili sauce (for topping)
4 lettuce leaves
4 tomatoes, slices
4 pickles, slices
1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Add mushrooms, lettuce. tomato, pickle and chili sauce.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your burgers.
  • Grind your own beef. This will give you more control over the quality and flavor of the meat.
  • Make sure the meat is cold before cooking. This will help the burgers cook evenly.
  • Don't overwork the meat. Overworking the meat will make the burgers tough.
  • Season the meat well. Use a combination of salt, pepper, and other spices to flavor the burgers.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help prevent the burgers from drying out.
  • Flip the burgers only once. Flipping the burgers too often will make them dry and tough.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the burgers. The burgers are done when they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the burgers.

Conclusion:

Making western burgers is a fun and easy way to enjoy a delicious and hearty meal. By following these tips, you can make burgers that are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. So next time you're in the mood for a burger, give one of these recipes a try.
