Time 7m

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lime, thin-skinned, washed
kosher salt, for coating rims
⅓ cup tequila blanco
½ cup filtered water
1 ½ tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons orange flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
ice, for serving
2 lime wheels, for garnish

Steps:

  • Trim off the very ends of the lime, then cut the lime lengthwise into quarters.
  • Rub one of the lime quarters around the rims of two glasses, then dip the rims in salt to coat.
  • Add the lime quarters, tequila, water, sugar, and orange liqueur, to a blender. Blend on high speed until the lime is broken down and only small specks of green remain, 1-2 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a spouted measuring cup to remove any solids, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
  • Fill the glasses with ice, then evenly divide the margarita mixture between the two. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel and serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!

CHILE-CITRUS MARGARITA

Chile-Citrus Margarita image

Tequila infused at home with jalapenos and lime takes an otherwise classic margarita to the next level.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Drink Recipes     Cocktail Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 ounces Chile-Lime Tequila
1 ounce triple sec
2 teaspoons agave
2 ounces lime juice, plus lime wedge for garnish
2 ounces orange juice
Salt

Steps:

  • Run a lime wedge around the edge of glass, and dip into a shallow dish filled with coarse salt to coat rim. Add tequila, triple sec, agave, lime juice, and orange juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well, and pour into prepared glass, and garnish with lime wedge.

Tips:

  • Use fresh citrus fruits. This will give your margaritas the best flavor. If you can't find fresh citrus fruits, you can use bottled or canned juice, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Use a good quality tequila. A good tequila will make your margaritas taste better. Look for a tequila that is 100% agave and has a smooth flavor.
  • Don't overmix the margaritas. Overmixing will make the margaritas watery and dilute the flavor. Shake or stir the margaritas just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Serve the margaritas immediately. Margaritas are best when they are served fresh. If you need to make the margaritas ahead of time, store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours. Be sure to shake or stir the margaritas again before serving.
  • Garnish the margaritas with a lime wedge or a sprig of mint. This will add a festive touch and make the margaritas look more appealing.

Conclusion:

Whole citrus margaritas are a refreshing and delicious cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious margarita that will impress your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a refreshing and flavorful cocktail, give whole citrus margaritas a try. You won't be disappointed!
