Yield 6 people

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb pasta of choice (elbow) is common
1 1/2- 2 lbs chopped veal and beef combined
huge spanish or red onion, diced
2 T olive oil
24-36 ounces jar tomato sauce (Buitoni, Barilla, Vincents) TWO JARS

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot add the onion and saute until golden brown. Add the meat to the skillet chopping as you mix so that there aren't any large clumps. When the meat has lost all pinkness add the macaroni and toss well to cover with oil. After a few minutes add in the tomato sauce and mix thorougly. Lower the flame to simmer and cover the skillet with a lid. After 20 minutes taste the pasta...if it is not soft enough check at 5 minute intervals until al dente. You may need additional sauce during the cooking if it looks dry.

I've made this recipe several times now and it's always a hit. The sauce is flavorful and the pasta is cooked perfectly. I especially love the addition of the cheese at the end. It gives the dish a creamy, cheesy texture that is irresistible.
