BULGUR PILAF image

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 or 2 garlic cloves, minced
Olive oil
½ leek, sliced thinly, white and green parts separated
Handful crimini mushrooms, sliced
1 or 2 stalks celery, sliced
About 2 TBS soy sauce
1 cup bulgur cooked in 2 cups of water or vegetable stock for 15 minutes
Roasted sunflower seeds

Steps:

  • Sauté the garlic in olive oil until fragrant and add the white part of the leek. Add celery and mushrooms and continue to sauté. Season with soy sauce, add cooked bulgur and mix well. Add the green part of the leek and sauté until it softens. Adjust seasoning if necessary (add black pepper if you'd like) and stir in sunflower seeds.

This bulgur pilaf was just okay. The bulgur was a bit mushy and the vegetables were overcooked. I also found the pilaf to be a bit bland. I would not make this again.

I made this bulgur pilaf last night and it was delicious! The bulgur was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were still crisp. I especially loved the addition of the pine nuts and raisins. I will definitely be making this again.
